At the prestigious Crooked Stick Golf Club, Williams Creek Management undertook a high-profile, 2,200-linear-foot stream restoration and stabilization of Spring Mill Run. This vital creek was severely degraded, impacting the course's aesthetics and playability, and the project was part of a larger 12-month course renovation. Key challenges included extreme visibility, the client's exacting aesthetic demands, avoiding disruption to golf play, and strict adherence to the renovation timeline to ensure a full grow-in season. Our solution involved extensive bank stabilization using native glacial stone and boulders, along with in-stream structures to control water velocity. We adapted construction to meet precise aesthetic requirements, including tailored stone undulations and sod integration, ensuring daily coordination with the chief golf course superintendent. Ultimately, the project successfully restored Spring Mill Run, providing long-term bank stability and improved water management that enhances both the course's functionality and its prestigious aesthetic, prominently showcased on holes 13 and 14 for future professional golf events.
