Williams Creek Management worked with a confidential utility client to complete a project that involved grading and improving the drainage of an access road at a substation in French Lick, Indiana. The project was commissioned to address safety concerns and improve the long-term maintenance of the substation access. The primary objective was to create a stable and reliable access road that could withstand heavy use and adverse weather conditions.
The project included installing 800 linear feet of TruGrid, a geosynthetic cellular confinement material, and restoring a half mile of the access drive. TruGrid was selected for its ability to provide a durable and permeable surface that reinforces the roadbed and minimizes erosion. The team also replaced underdrains and capped the area with stone, further improving drainage and preventing future erosion. This project demonstrates the Williams Creek Team’s experience in substation site development work, showcasing their understanding of the unique requirements and challenges associated with these projects.
The improvements to the access road will provide a safe and reliable path for maintenance and inspection of the substation, ensuring the continued delivery of reliable power to the community.
