This linear utility project involved site restoration and access solutions for the Ground Line Treatment (GLT) Transmission Line upgrades through New Albany and Clarksville, Indiana. Although pole replacement occurred only at intervals, the transmission line corridor ran directly through residential neighborhoods, requiring strategic coordination with dozens of property owners and local traffic conditions.
The primary challenge of this project was proximity: many segments of the right-of-way bordered or ran through private backyards. Residents had fences, pets, and concerns about privacy, safety, and access, all of which had to be addressed without delaying construction. In addition, the area’s dense layout and traffic-heavy roads required constant management of traffic flow and safety procedures.
Williams Creek Management worked hand-in-hand with homeowners to install temporary fencing and access gates, ensuring properties were secure and functional throughout the work. These temporary solutions were critical in maintaining goodwill with residents while supporting the utility’s progress. The team also coordinated environmental controls and matting for access roads, ensuring minimal disruption to the landscape.
An additional complexity was the creation of a gravel laydown yard for the client’s needs in partnership with a local business owner. Williams Creek coordinated the expansion of the existing gravel lot and facilitated access for construction staging, an effort that required flexible planning and relationship-building with local stakeholders.
The project exemplifies Williams Creek’s ability to execute high quality utility restoration work while navigating residential concerns, business coordination, and urban infrastructure, all without compromising the client’s timeline or public trust.
