The Ground Line Treatment (GLT) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Management and Access Solutions project was part of a confidential utility client’s ongoing infrastructure improvement program, focused on targeted replacement of transmission poles. Although only a handful of poles were replaced across a broad area, the positioning of these poles near active county roads presented a unique safety challenge.
Rather than conduct work from the roadway, which would have caused major traffic disruptions and posed risks to utility crews, Williams Creek Management constructed temporary matting work pads on the roadside field edge. This allowed line crews to operate from the safety of adjacent agricultural fields while keeping roads open to public traffic. Williams Creek also coordinated with a trusted traffic control subcontractor to manage signage and control plans.
While the restoration itself was minimal, primarily turfgrass restoration near a few residential areas and light grading in agricultural fields, the strategic planning around safe access and traffic coordination was critical to the project’s success.
This effort exemplifies Williams Creek’s value in utility corridors where construction overlaps with public infrastructure. Their foresight and trusted partnerships help minimize disruption while maintaining pace with client schedules.
