The Scottsburg Access Solutions project was a critical infrastructure support effort aimed at facilitating pole replacement operations within the substation. Williams Creek Management was responsible for ensuring safe and stable site access by installing temporary construction entrances and matting solutions allowing construction crews to work efficiently while minimizing environmental disruption.
In addition to the standard temporary construction entrances and matting, Williams Creek also created a matted laydown yard outside the substation to provide a designated area for staging materials and equipment. Additionally, access roads were matted around the perimeter of the substation to allow line crews to maneuver safely throughout the site. The terrain presented challenges, requiring careful planning to ensure stability while protecting the surrounding environment.
Although relatively straightforward, this project highlighted the importance of strategic site access solutions in maintaining compliance and efficiency in utility infrastructure upgrades. Williams Creek’s expertise in matting installation and site preparation ensured that Duke Energy’s crews could complete their work with minimal environmental impact.
