This project involved a complex utility relocation and culvert installation in Depauw, Indiana, requiring close collaboration with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and management of a legal drainage system. The core challenge was relocating a power line to create sufficient workspace for INDOT to replace a major culvert that spanned a hill drain along State Road 64.
Williams Creek Management executed the groundwork necessary for the relocation of approximately eight utility poles and created slack spans to shift the line, allowing INDOT the necessary workspace. Our primary responsibility was ensuring safe, temporary access across the farmer’s cattle pasture, which required an entirely matted access road and the management of a legal drain. This involved the use of temporary culverts, stone placement, and matting to ensure the line crew could cross the drain without impacting the sensitive agricultural and legal drainage systems.
This successful project showcases Williams Creek’s proficiency in managing complex logistical projects that require multi agency coordination, specifically with departments like INDOT. By effectively relocating the line and navigating the legal drain and temporary access requirements, we demonstrated our expertise in supporting large state infrastructure projects while successfully mitigating impacts on private landowners and agricultural practices.
